Pros and cons of ASL: Fingerspelling (Lifeprint.com) app for iPhone and iPad

ASL: Fingerspelling (Lifeprint.com) app good for

Very good app. Straightforward and has excellent configurability. Would be perfect with a few improvements: 1) The scoring system is currently a bit pointless, as it resets if anything interrupts, like pulling down the "Today" drawer or clicking the home button. Would be best to either fix this or remove scoring. 2) Needs a landscape mode.
I am loving this app. This is as much fun as many of the games I play but Im learning a skill at the same time! Huge variety of words. Fingerspelling has been one of my biggest challenges to learning ASL but not anymore.
Ive been studying ASL on and off for 6 years, and my worst area has always been fingerspelling and reading letters quickly. Using this app and practicing the words after I answer them has improved my fingerspelling and comprehension significantly in just a few weeks. 20 minutes in the app every day or two is all it takes, and the speed setting and extensive vocabulary make it easy to adjust the app to your skill level. Fingerspelling is such an important skill to have in ASL, and the only way to improve is with regular practice, which makes this app an essential for anyone whos serious about learning the language.
Im an ASL 1 student and for me, reading fingerspelling has been the hardest part. I rarely pick up any words no matter how short they are. This has started getting me used to the essential "shapes" the hands make when spelling words and Im finding Im catching more letters frequently. Hopefully, this app will have continued support in the future! Its too great to not keep up with the new iOS!!! (installed iOS 10 today)
Great tool for mastering fingerspelling. But what did they make the B with an almost upright thumb? It is usually bent in and its hard to read at fast speeds. I also keep getting a message saying that this app slows down my iPhone and iPad and needs to be updated. One last thing: then need to make it usable in landscape mode for iPad users. Bottom line: excellent and worth the money
I love this app--a great tool for practice anywhere/anytime. But, this app needs to be updated in order to work with the upcoming Apple update. Apparently, any app not updated will no longer work. Please, please update so that we can use this.

Some bad moments

This app is not worth your money. It is super slow and laggy. You can go on lifeprint (an ASL website) and it gives you lots of helpful features such as a dictionary, a-z, jokes, etc. Also you can search asl fingerspelling practice site and it gives you everything this app gives you. If I could give it zero stars I would.
This app is ok. Fun to learn to read finger spelling... But considering its a pay app... I would expect more. For example, a more detailed scoring system or chart to monitor improvement? A way to customize if you want to work on words with certain letters youre having trouble with?
Ive been waiting for this to go mobile! Love the web version also. The best thing is the app doesnt use your data. I turned airplane mode on and the app still operates! In ASL as fingerspelling is important this is a valuable tool for anyone learning ASL! Thank you Dr. Bill!
Thank you so much for taking your website mobile! I love the variable speed & word length. I know with exposure I can slowly improve my performance. Cannot wait to be able to do all lengths of words at the highest speed! Great performance so far & no data usage. Thanks so much!
As a hard of hearing person, Ive been learning ASL. Dr. Vicars website is great. I can now practice fingerspelling while mobile! If you could make a signing practice app to go with this, that would be incredible! Thanks.
This is well worth 99ยข! Simple and clean app is really good for fingerspelling practice. (Im a former student of Vicars and I can tell you he is a great guy dedicated to helping people learn ASL.) Get this app!
